The student devotes eight hours a week to work in a public or private community agency and two hours a week in conference with the instructor or in a seminar. The position is tailored to the student's preparation and interests and to the needs of the agency. The student learns how an organization actually works, its relation to other organizations in the community, how it serves its clients, and the problems that confront it. Enrollment, limited to majors, is a commitment by the student to adhere to a high standard of attendance and responsibility. For junior or senior sociology majors.
