This course introduces students to the physical therapy profession, the history and evolution of physical therapy, and the role of the physical therapist within the health care system. Basic issues of ethics, professional behaviors and generic skills are discussed. Medical terminology, documentation and medical record review are covered, as are emergency incidents and the measurement of vital signs. The course introduces students to the theory and practice of basic physical therapy skills such as body mechanics, bed mobility training, transfer training and gait training. Every Year, Fall
