This course prepares the student for the role of a communication specialist/dispatcher. Focus areas include: roles and responsibilities; FCC rules and regulations; legal issues; basic telecommunications techniques; law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical dispatch; Computer Aided Dispatch; and crisis intervention strategies and professionalism. The student will be introduced to a real-life communication center environment through simulation lab exercises which will be incorporated as a significant component of the course.
