This seminar will provide Master's candidates with an opportunity to pursue indepth those areas of interest to which they have been drawn during their course of study. Through reading and dialogue, participants will sharpen their focus on the issues of art education they find most challenging. Participants are expected to be conversant with art theories and to work toward evolving their own philosophy of art education. Study topics will include: the relationship of the artist to society; crosscultural and culture-specific artwork; school as an agent of change and/or socialization; the economics of art; and making space for adults' and children'sart. We will create a personal statement of our beliefs over the course of the semester. Open to graduate students only.
