(offered alternate years) Language and literacy have the power to inspire or to debase, to communicate or to deceive, to liberate or to enslave. This course explores the ethical implications of language use, especially in the realms of advertising, politics, the arts and the professions, as well as private life, and considers the impact of changing technologies on the role of language in the present and the future.
