An intensive course designed to provide instruction and stimulate discussion on important topics in biological research. It is loosely divided into 4 modules: 1) ethics, writing, and basic biology tools; 2) structural and computational biology; 3) protein and carbohydrate structure and function; 4) microbiology, ecology, and evolution. Students will gain a fundamental understanding of major topics in biology through formal didactic instruction and selected readings from the primary literature. When Offered: Fall term.
