Examines women artists of the 20th century with attention to historical, social and theoretical issues that underlie their works of art. Discusses art made by women in both Western and non-Western contexts and explores the impact of race, ethnicity, nationality, class and sexual orientation on their artistic production. Among others, it addresses subjects of motherhood, self-identity, spirituality and the female body. Also covers the most current feminist scholarship in art history. Also offered as CRST and WOST. Offered in alternate years.
