Introducing working with clay as a sculptural medium, you will work with pinch, coil and slab techniques as well as hollowing solid forms and using basic molds. You will gain experience with the use of slips, glazes and kiln firings to achieve finished surfaces for your work. Through course assignments, you have opportunities for personal expression and creative experiences while learning techniques for making three-dimensional clay sculpture. Learning is enhanced by investigation of historical and contemporary works in clay. Offered every semester.
