Explores the contribution of women towards the development of Mexican culture from pre-Hispanic times through the 20th century, with an emphasis on the latter. The works of such artists and writers as Frida Kahlo and María Izquierdo, Elena Garro, and Rosario Castellanos will be considered in light of their historical and political contexts. Prerequisites: "L" course: enrollment limited to 15 students. Completion of language requirement, third-year language sequence (W3300; W3330), and introductory surveys (W3349, W3350). 3 points
