Analyzes the causes of violence in civil wars. Examines the debates around emergency aid, peacekeeping and peacebuilding. Focuses on recent conflict situations in Africa - especially Congo, Sudan, and Rwanda - as a background against which to understand the distinct dynamics of violence, peace, and international interventions in civil conflicts.
