Kinetic processes in materials. Overview of kinetics in relation to equilibrium thermodynamics, atomistics and mathematics of diffusion, phase transformations, and microstructural evolution. All materials classes, including metals and alloys, ionic and intermetallic compounds, glasses, semiconductors, and polymers, will be considered in terms of similarities and differences.
