Discussions and seminars on how to deal with the various aspects of teaching and related problems encountered by teaching assistants in chemistry. Seminar topics will include: cognitive theories of learning; several models of teaching; educational psychology; attitude and motivational factors; communication and presentation skills; leadership; time management; how to write an exam; grading problems; ethics; group problem solving skills; and cultural diversity. Seminars will be led by a senior, experienced teaching assistant along with participating faculty. When Offered: Fall term annually. Graded: Graded satisfactory/unsatisfactory only. Credit Hours: 1
