This course seeks to cultivate a more explicit understanding of -"what is material "- through hands-on experiences with several standard building materials: concrete, steel, wood, etc. The basic characteristics of each material and a few basic techniques for working with each will be presented in discussion and demonstration. Students will work in groups with the given materials on several projects.
