Introduction to general theories and principles of chemistry, stressing underlying correlations. Systematic study of the periodic table with an emphasis on bonding and the quantitative relationships among the elements. The course covers additional topics and examples of scientific interest not included in CHEM 12100. Three hours of lecture (and one recitation) per week. Primarily intended for biochemistry and chemistry majors. Prerequisites: High school algebra and high school chemistry with minimum grade of C. Students cannot receive credit for both CHEM 12000 and CHEM 12300. 4 credits. (Y)
