Chemistry of coordination compounds in light of modern theory. The electronic, magnetic, and spectral properties of transition metal complexes are considered, with the application of group theoretical techniques. Other topics include formation and stability of complex ions, mechanism of reactions of these ions, and complexes of transition metal ions of biological interest. Three hours of lecture per week.
