A study of the relationship between people and domesticated animals in cultural ecology, symbolism, history, and aesthetics. The course uses material from anthropology, history, biology, art, and literature to examine African cattle, Middle Eastern shepherding, Arctic reindeer, New Guinea pigs, Western pets, and India's sacred cows.
