Semester Hours: 3 Spring A study of the principles of reflection, refraction, interference, diffraction, polarization, emission and amplification of light. Topics include the kaleidoscope, the rainbow, diamonds, human vision, the science of color, black light, the color of sunsets, lasers and holography. For nonscience majors. (2 hours lecture, 2 hours laboratory.) Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: 1 unit high school algebra; 1 unit plane geometry.
