Semester Hours: 3 Fall, Spring The seven fundamental laws of classical physics - Newton's three laws of motion, and the four laws of electricity and magnetism are examined in the context of the history of ideas and development of modern science and technology. The objective is to illustrate the universality of these laws in explaining all nonrelativistic, macroscopic phenomena and to provide perspective on the traditional search by physicists for universal laws. (4 hours lecture/laboratory weekly.)
