Semester Hours: 3 Periodically Culture is at the center of contemporary debates on globalization. This course introduces the interpretive categories that are used in the study of the cultural dimension of globalization, The course will allow students to understand the contradictions of cultural globalization with its movement toward cultural homogenization on the one hand and the proliferation of culutal identities on the other. The course takes a specific interdisciplinary approach, showing the effects of global culture on cultural formation throughout the orld (but with particular attention to the "non-Western" world).
