Semester Hours: 3 Periodically A literary analysis of the many representations of women found in the Hebrew Bible. Through a close reading of biblical literature and in dialogue with various forms of feminist scholarship, this course examines issues such as patriarchy and its relation to the production of Old Testament literature; gender relations; goddess worship; violence against women; the political, legal, economic and religious standing of ancient Israelite women.
