A chronological study of selected masterpieces of the Peninsula from their genesis in the Middle Ages to the present with an emphasis on the historical, political, and sociological factors that have shaped Spanish culture and society. An appreciation of the essential features of different literary periods (e.g., Renaissance, Baroque, Romanticism) and of correspondences to other artistic media. Prerequisites: Two courses from level III or the equivalent. (LiƩbana, offered occasionally)
