This course looks at how different contemporary societies and cultures have chosen to organize themselves economically, how their key economic institutions function and how well they have performed over time. We will move away from the traditional 'capitalist versus socialist' or 'command versus market' split within comparative economics to also look at how different religious traditions have attempted to answer the age old questions of 'what,' 'how,' and for 'whom' to produce as well as how increasing economic and financial integration (i.e., 'globalization') has impacted different economic systems worldwide.
