This course is organized chronologically and thematically around representative buildings-religious, domestic, civic, courtly-from ancient Greek and Roman to contemporary American. Individual buildings are analyzed in terms of their structural, stylistic, functional, and social meanings, and as cultural exemplars. (Mathews , offered annually)
