An intensive summer workshop in big city "green" design. Intended for majors in visual arts, environmental studies, and/or urban studies, this course might interest anyone concerned about New York City's future in an era of rising energy costs and environmental risk. Walking tours; field trips; reading program and discussion; visits to buildings, parks, and contruction sites; illustrated presentations; guest speakers from state and city agencies, NGOs, nonprofits, and private sector innovators. At least one day each week will be based at Solar One, located on the East River at 23rd Street, or the Science Barge in the Hudson River at 44th Street.
