The concepts of ensemble, partition function and their relationship with ideal gas thermodynamic quantities like internal energy, entropy, Gibbs energy, equilibrium constant, and other macroscopic observations are discussed. Prerequisites: CHEM 333 or permission of instructor. Offered in alternate years.
