A Chianese, P. Sheridan The goal is to introduce the wealth of chemistry displayed by elements from around the periodic table. Starting with the structure, bonding, spectra, and reactions of classic coordination complexes, the course then deals with the structure and properties of inorganic crystalline solids. The course ends with the structure, bonding, and reactions of elements from across the periodic table. The required 0.25 credit-bearing laboratory course CHEM 212L must be taken concurrently with CHEM 212 and may not be taken as a stand-alone course. Prerequisite: CHEM 102 or CHEM 111. Offered in the spring only.
