This workshop will focus upon women's position in the world at large both past and present, as well as the socio-political and philosophical ideologies that have supported that position and its resistance to change. We will look at the several "waves" of feminist movement that have accompanied the socio-political and philosophical changes taking place in the western world since the Age of Enlightenment, Social-contract Theory, Marxist-Socialism, and Existentialist freedom movements, up to and including feminist theory developed in the post-World War era.
