A course designed to introduce the student to all major periods of music history and to help the student develop listening skills. This course will trace composers and the Christian worldview as applicable to music in Christian education and service. Students will be introduced to important musical concepts like melody, harmony, rhythm, simple forms, textures, vocal and instrumental music, as well as the instruments of the orchestra. This course will also broaden the musical experience of the student by introducing nontraditional music and the music of non-western cultures. For non-music ministries majors.
