This course provides students with an overview of working with English Language Learners (ELL). The emphasis is identification of effective strategies for teaching reading/writing to ELL, as well as to develop awareness and sensitivity to their academic needs. Students must complete 20-26 hours of tutoring with individuals experiencing difficulties with reading/writing based on cultural and/ or language differences. (It might be possible to receive financial aid from Reading First - Federal Initiative grant). Prerequisites: ED 106 and PS 124, or permission of the instructor. This course must be completed with a minimum grade of C (2.00).
