Introduces the student to the principles and concepts of organizing and directing a physical education program. It includes the nature, scope, philosophy, and objectives of elementary, middle school, and secondary physical education programs; roles and responsibilities of those who direct these programs; the curricula that these programs encompass; policies and procedures needed to implement these programs effectively; legal issues and liability involved in teaching physical education; purchase and care of physical education equipment and supplies; and planning, construction, and maintenance of facilities for physical education. Prerequisite: Junior standing or permission of instructor.
