This course will examine the role of human development in the education of children from pre-kindergarten through high school. Students will explore the historical foundations, special education laws, issues and trends, and current practices pertaining to working with a diverse school population, including special needs students. Descriptions of handicapping conditions, along with various techniques and procedures for working with the exceptional child using school and community resources will be emphasized.
