Introduces candidates to an overview of the early childhood/elementary curriculum, instruction, and assessment cycle in various subject areas with an emphasis on the social studies. Curricular and instructional theories are examined. The course also provides candidates with an opportunity to develop curriculum, plan instruction, write clear and focused instructional objectives, and design lesson plans. A simulated work sample is prepared helping candidates demonstrate the relationship between curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Field experience required. (Prerequisites: ED 320, ED 230, fingerprint clearance.)
