A lecture and laboratory course designed to investigate basic clay and glaze materials. Students gain an intuitive understanding of ceramic materials, their practical and aesthetic properties, and develop a series of personal glazes. The nature of clays and the relationship among clay bodies, slips, sigillatas, and glazes is also explored. Formerly CR 253 Prerequisites & Notes May be taken four times for credit.
