A study of community life, including theoretical and methodological approaches to both rural and urban communities. Topics include social relationships in community, community structure and organization, historical development of urban community, urbanism as a way of life, the impact of social change on community, comparative communities, and social planning in communities. (1) Lecture: 3 hrs/wk. Prerequisite: One 200-level Sociology course, or permission of the instructor.
