An analysis of the social context of health, illness, and healing including the influence of the social environment on disease and illness patterns, interaction among health care providers and patients, and types of health care systems. Special focus is given to social inequalities in the American health care system. (1) Lecture: 3 hrs/wk. Prerequisite: One 200-level Sociology course, or permission of the instructor.
