An examination of the concept of deviance and the various sociological perspectives on deviant behavior. Sociological, biological, and psychological theories of causation are used to study behaviors such as drug addiction and alcoholism, deviant sexual behavior, and mental illness. (1) Lecture: 3 hrs/wk. Prerequisite: Sociology 101 or permission of the instructor.
