This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of techniques utilized to prevent athletic injuries. Major topics will include general medical conditions and assessment, pre-participation examinations, pharmacology, physical conditioning techniques, prophylactic taping, bracing, and padding utilized in sports medicine. (1/2) Lecture: 3 hrs/wk. Prerequisites: Admission to Athletic Training major; Health and Human Performance 221.
