Full course for one semester. This course is an introduction to the ways in which the human language-processing system is organized to produce and comprehend language. We will study speech perception, lexical access, and sentence processing in the context of language acquisition, bilingualism, sign language, brain damage, and language in primates. Basic linguistic concepts will be covered. Students are expected to design a research project. Prerequisite: Psychology 121 or Linguistics 311, or consent of the instructor. Lecture-conference.
