Unit(s): 1 Additional Information: This course provides an overview of literature produced by Black women writers from Africa, the Caribbean, and the United States. Their writings are viewed within the larger context of world literature, while attention is given to the unique problems faced by Black female writers, the concerns upon which they focus in their works, the importance of their individual works, the milieu that produced them and their works, their triple consciousness, the critical reception accorded them, and the affinities that unite them in an unusual sisterhood.
