PY 414 - Quantum Mechanics

Institution:
Saint Michael's College
Subject:
Description:
This is a formal introduction to the language and techniques of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics. Investigations will center on solutions of the Schroedinger equation for the harmonic oscillator, the hydrogen atom and other simple potentials. Students also gain familiarity with the Dirac notation, angular momentum and spin and some elements of scattering and approximation theory. Prerequisites: PY 214, PY 215. Credits: 3 cr.
