This course addresses the history, current realities, and objectives of the field of second/foreign language learning and teaching. It focuses on the needs of the learner, the role of the teacher, and the application of methodology in developing communicative competence. Using a comparative approach to current methodologies, this course also provides students with the theoretical foundation for teaching listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. Credits: 4 cr. Misc. Notes: Meets concurrently with GSL 542.
