Explores the importance of the business organization to contemporary American society. The course includes an historical overview of the evolution of business and assesses the contributions of business to the economic and social development of the United States and the controversies to which it has been a party. It provides an introduction to the range of business skills and functions, and will highlight how these skills and functions are useful in non-business organizations. Prerequisites: First-year student or written permission of the department chair. Credits: 3 cr. Misc. Notes: Not intended for students who major in business administration.
