Introduces students to the field of American Studies through the examination of a broad range of source material drawn from history, literature, politics, religion, art, popular culture, and so on. The diverse forms of American cultural history will be considered primarily through case studies of significant concepts, persons, social movements, and events; topics might include, for example, Manifest Destiny, the Frontier, the Civil Rights Movement, the JFK assassination, the O.J. Simpson trial, Women's Rights, etc. Credits: 3 cr.
