3 (3 + 0) Prerequisite: WMS 1001, and satisfaction of Level I General Studies course requirements; or permission of instructor This course studies both the classical tradition of feminist thought and contemporary expressions of feminist theories and issues in the Western world. The course analyzes traditional theories of human nature and "woman's nature." Feminist theory's primary concern is with understanding the social, psychological, economic, and political basis for women's realities and experiences. Primary and secondary sources in several disciplines are examined as they contribute to the development of the major branches of first and second wave feminist thinking.
