4 (4 + 0) Prerequisite: SWK 3050, SWK 3060, SWK 3410, SWK 3780, SWK 3790, or Permission of instructor Emphasis is on empowerment of individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities who have experienced social and economic injustice. Students apply principles and perspectives essential to helping urban, populations-at-risk including African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic, Native-American and Anglo, through case examples. This course includes content on other minority groups such as the developmentally disabled, the aging, gays and lesbians, and women and children.
