3 (2 + 2) Prerequisite: Junior or Senior standing and Permission of instructor The course introduces the subject of sources of official and legal records pertaining to land surveying, boundary surveying, and land mapping projects. The student will visit the offices of the Colorado State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors, county clerk and recorder, assessor, city or county planning department, zoning department, county surveyor, etc., to assess current regulations, sources of records and record keeping. The student will visit a title abstract company to learn about land title searches for preparing title commitments. The student will write assessments and proposals, with justification and cost-recovery analysis, for improving the offices visited.
