3 (3 + 0) Prerequisite: SOC 1010, or WMS 1001 or SWK 1010; or Permission of instructor This course introduces the student to the relationship between gender and poverty and will examine the underlying causes of the "feminization of poverty" in the United States. Social, economic, age-based, and ethnic factors will be explored in detail. The differences between prevailing stereotypes and current realities will be highlighted. (WMS 3660, SWK 3660)
