3 (3 + 0) Prerequisite: MGT 3000, and either CIS 2300 or MTH 1210 or MTH 1610 This course in an introduction to operations management decision-making and to the tools used to enhance the decision-making process. Attention is given to the design and operation of the production/service system and its interrelationship with other systems in the organization. The course places special emphasis on the use of quantitative techniques in decision making. Topics include productivity, strategic positioning and design of operations (e.g., capacity, layout, location, and work methods), project management, forecasting, quality control, supply-chain management, and inventory management.
