3 (2 + 2) Prerequisite: ENG 1020 This interdisciplinary course, the first in a two-part sequence, is an integrated study of the visual arts, literature, music, drama, and philosophy of the ancient, medieval, and Renaissance world. It explores humankind's cultural legacy and focuses thematically on the concerns of origin, self-knowledge, identity, world-view and society that many cultures, both Western and Eastern, share in common and also takes note of the unique contributions of different artists, writers, and thinkers to that process. Learning approaches will include lecture, discussion, projects, and attendance at a minimum of three cultural events.
