3 (3 + 0) Prerequisite: Senior standing and completion of ENG 2100, ENG 2500, ENG 3020, and ENG 3470 or equivalent courses as determined by a Department of English advisor, or Permission of instructor This course is intended for students seeking a degree in English with a concentration in Secondary Education through MSCD or for students seeking licensure through MSCD to teach secondary English. Students will learn theories and techniques for teaching literature, understanding and responding to texts, and integrating spoken and written communication. The course will also address language diversity, cross-cultural communication, and the oral tradition in literature.
